After spending the night staring at the cowboy statue, Cooper is taken home by police. Opening an envelope left on their doorstep, Janey-E finds a photo of Dougie and Jade, and a demand to repay her husband’s gambling debts plus exorbitant interest. Mike sends Cooper a message to wake up. Cooper reviews the work case files and is guided by the Lodge to cover them in doodles. FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield arrives at ‘Max Von’s Bar’ and meets Cooper’s former assistant, Diane. Red entrusts Richard Horne with a delivery of drugs. Richard takes cocaine and speeds in his truck, killing a young boy in a hit-and-run; the child’s soul is seen leaving his body by Carl Rodd, owner of the ‘Fat Trout Trailer Park’, who comforts the distraught mother. Police deal with the remains of Dougie’s car. Duncan Todd employs diminutive assassin Ike ‘The Spike’ Stadtler to kill Lorraine and Dougie. At ‘Lucky 7 Insurance’, Dougie’s boss finds meaning in Cooper’s scribblings. Janey-E meets with the loan-sharks and repays them on her terms. Ike kills Lorraine and her coworkers, breaking his ice-pick in the process. Deputy Chief Hawk drops a coin in the station’s bathroom that leads him to find pages torn from Laura Palmer's diary hidden in a cubicle door.
